This knife management system is based on a special knife box in connection with circular or straight knives that are equipped with a memory chip and a scanner.

The knife box is equipped with a measuring device to transfer the respective stockpiling data. It often happens that the knives to be exchanged are not available, because the purchasing department has not been informed in due time. Consequence: not enough knives on stock when knife exchange becomes necessary. 

The respective knives are equipped with memory chips. Their storage capacity is individually programmable. When the chip is scanned, the programmed data can be read from the display, e. g.:

• machine type or machine builder
• knife type (e.g. bottom knife)
• order number
• Dienes drawing number
• knife box assignment
• regrinding intervals
• service number / hotline
• performance of slitting tool
