Cutting mills

Cutting mills, or also shredders or granulators, are used in particular for the size reduction of a wide variety of materials. They can be used for temperature-sensitive or fibrous, brittle or tough materials. They can also be used for plastics or for various mixtures of materials. In many cases, they are used to recycle industrial waste or to enable the reuse of scrap. Likewise, in special designs, they can also be used in the food sector.

DIENES know-how

DIENES knives bring the optimal characteristics to achieve the best cutting results. Thus, even when used in cutting mills, they can ensure that the end product convinces with its quality. Let the knowledge and experience of our experts convince you and advise you regarding rotating and fixed blades in your granulator.

Functionality

Cutting mills are so-called stand-alone devices. Here, the material falls through a hopper into the grinding chamber. There it is then divided by classical cuts, but especially by shearing. This works with the help of a rotating knife, the rotator, which grips the material and then grinds it in combination with fixed knives.

With the help of sieve cassettes, it is possible to determine the fineness with which the materials are shredded. This is because only the material that has the desired fineness can pass through the sieves in the lower part of the grinding chamber. The end product is then collected below the sieve. By using different sieves, the fineness of the end product can be determined without much effort.

In addition, the use of different knives allows a high degree of flexibility when it comes to the use of cutting mills. With the help of different materials of the cutting tools, the abrasion behavior and durability can also be influenced.

Cutting mills are available in a wide variety of designs. Depending on the product to be cut, the rotational speed of the rotating blades can be adjusted. As a rule, this is between 7-15 seconds. In addition, the rotators are also available in various designs. Thus, in a granulator can be cut either in a parallel or tangential cut, which can have a particular effect on the formation of dust. With a tangential cut, the quality of the end product is usually better and less cutting dust is generated.
