NOVITA has over 50 years of experience in nonwoven production. To further optimize its existing slitting technology, two DIENES Long Life knife holders were integrated into the existing slitting system.
Retrofit Instead of Complete Replacement
The installation demonstrates the potential of targeted modernization of existing systems. By replacing individual key components, slitting processes can be made more stable, reproducible and efficient.
At NOVITA, the Long Life knife holders are intended in particular to help
- increase process stability,
- support consistently high slitting quality,
- extend knife life,
- and thereby improve the overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) of the existing slitting system.
Especially for companies with established production systems, a retrofit like this can be a cost-effective alternative to a complete system replacement.
Good Slitting Quality Starts with the Right Settings
New technology alone is not enough – the right know-how is equally important to make optimal use of its advantages in the slitting process. That is why the DIENES team not only supported the installation and commissioning but also trained NOVITA’s employees directly at the machine.
The training focused on the correct adjustment of the knife holders, the interaction between top and bottom knives, and the key factors influencing clean and reproducible cutting edges. After all, only when knives, knife holders, machine settings and material work together optimally can a slitting system reach its full potential.
The Key Takeaway
The NOVITA project demonstrates that existing slitting systems do not necessarily need to be replaced to improve their performance. Often, the greater potential lies in combining targeted technological modernization with in-depth process know-how.
This is precisely where DIENES comes in with its Long Life knife holder generation and accompanying operator training. In this way, an existing system can gradually be transformed into a more stable, efficient and better-controlled slitting process.
